29年生きてきて、これが話題に上がったのすら聞いたことない。

I went in 2015, apparently it’s a big deal on US TV, hence all the American High School marching bands.

2015年に行った。どうやらアメリカのテレビでは大きな扱いらしくて、だからアメリカの高校のマーチングバンドがたくさん出るんだと思う。

It’s the Mayor’s parade, which has been happening for a long time. They’ve just changed the name!

市長（ロード・メイヤー）のパレードだよ。ずっと前からやってる。名前が変わっただけ！

It's not well publicized or known about. I wonder if it's because actual Londoners are still away/visiting family for Christmas, or asleep/hung over from the night before. I imagine it's more for families from outside of London, or tourists from abroad.

あんまり宣伝されないし知られてないよね。ロンドンの人はまだクリスマスで帰省中だったり、前夜の疲れ（二日酔い）で寝てたりするからかな。 ロンドン外の家族連れとか海外観光客向けなんだと思う。

It’s a fun event but so much of it previously has been just American state marching bands which are sweet but not very British.

Born and raised in London and I did not know London had a New Years parade… must be new

Apparently has been organised for some time now. Tbh it is probably not publicised well. I only happen to know about this because a friend's uncle knew about this and we went together after covid.

I think it kind of makes sense, most people are taking some rest from the night before. Tbh the crowd was a lot less than what I would have imagined for London. Anyways happy new year :)

1987. It's every year. And every year someone posts it on Reddit and the comments are full of people saying they never heard of it.

FTBT - For tourists by tourists. Harmless fun. Tourists come to see other tourists march. It takes place while real London is fast asleep. When I was a kid they pretended the New Years Parade was a thing and then Americans came en masse, it really became a thing. The Lord Mayor of the City of London leads the parade and then various Guilds march. There's a Fire Service float, gay wizards. American high school marching bands and cheerleaders... There is a school choir or two. And the London hotels do very well from the hoopla.

I think it’s been going a while - I always forget about it. Well, last year we were all knackered so didn’t get up but this year, it completely slipped my mind that it even exists.

Great fun! I was in the New Year’s Day parade in 2018 when my brother in law was Lord Mayor of Westminster.

すごく楽しいよ！2018年に、義兄がウェストミンスターのロード・メイヤーだったときに自分もニューイヤーズ・デイ・パレードに出た。

I went out and didn't even know this was happening but it was enjoyable to watch for a while and it wasn't too hard to find a spot to get a good view

外に出たらこれやってるの知らなかったけど、しばらく見てて楽しかったし、いい場所（見やすい場所）を見つけるのもそんなに大変じゃなかった。

I was browsing a list of things to do in January around London and the New Year's parade showed up. Just a shame I looked at the list at 4 this afternoon really.
