Tube foxo @ Highbury Islington

Maybe I'm being sentimental but it looks a bit distressed to me.

It’s a tough life for them, they’re overpopulated, often close to starvation, plenty of natural predators as well as physical dangers, diseases which can lead to a slow and painful death. Life as a fox is distressing.

What are the natural predators? I read about deer being overpopulated partly due to no predictors anymore - lynx, wolves and bears used to be native.

Dogs. I’ve seen a few foxes look fairly fucked and am told they’ve been attacked by dogs. I’m sure there are also parasitic insects and birds too.

Why are you depressing people with a bunch of lies. Urban foxes are thriving, they have adapted well to the environment and they’re not starving whatsoever. They don’t have any natural predators. Physical dangers and disease - that’s true. But the fox in this pic has a bushy healthy tail, which is unusual to see in London (no sign of mange)

なぜ嘘で人を落ち込ませるの？ 都市のキツネはうまく適応して繁栄しているし、飢えてもいない。天敵はいない。 物理的な危険や病気は確かにある。でもこの写真のキツネは尻尾がふさふさで健康そう。ロンドンでは珍しい（疥癬の兆候もない）。

They're usually born and raised close to rail tracks. Raised earth banks around.. good places to burrow. Pups have to learn very early to avoid trains, but then it's pretty much their own turf.. no pesky hoomans around.

線路の近くで生まれ育つことが多い。盛り土は巣穴に最適。子ギツネは早い段階で列車を避けることを学ぶし、その後は人間が少ない自分たちの縄張りになる。

Yeah but not in a station. There is no place of safety on the tracks in a station, not even for a fox.

でも駅構内は違う。駅の線路には安全な場所がない。キツネでも同じだ。

明るさや騒がしさで、きっと怖がっているはず。かわいそう。

Think they get used to large crowds tbh. Bit like how city pigeons aren’t scared by humans like rural pigeons are.

It probably doesn't live down there. Foxes might enter the tube while it's very quiet, and will likely leave eventually.
